What is Wellness?
Wellness definition: Your wellness is how healthy you are, and how well and happy you feel.

"How does poetry link to natural health and wellness?"
Having been asked this question, several times over the years, I decided to reflect on it, earnestly, and retrace my steps from being practically crippled with Rheumatoid Arthritis to achieving healing and wellness, through self-healing, with loving support from family, friends, colleagues and health professionals.
Achieving wellness came with a change in my awareness about who I am, and seriously questioning what is my true purpose in life?
The gift of poetry has been with me all my life but instead of embracing it, the fear of being "different" caused me to bury it deep within. After many years of fighting Rheumatoid Arthritis I can, sincerely, say from the moment I accepted and embraced my gift and started sharing it with others, my healing began.
As I continue to receive and share these wonderful wealthy words, especially, with the little ones I teach, my wellness continues to flow spiritually, mentally, physically, emotionally and socially.

Wellness can be achieved through the wonderful, wealthy words of poetry that flow, from spirit, through a pure, open heart. Poetry can heal the writer, as well as the readers, through feelings, emotion, imagery, rhythms and rhymes.
For me, coupling inspiring, uplifting, wonderful wealthy words with the following daily routine; self-discipline, meditation, intention, prayers; having an open heart, self-belief, faith and trust, focus, attentive listening (to my intuition and others) optimism, altruism, being myself and, most of all, connecting to Mother Nature and all Her children, supports healing, good mental health and overall well-being.
Self-Discipline
For me, self-discipline means knowing myself by accepting my strengths and weaknesses, observing and letting go of worrying thoughts, feelings, emotions; having the ability to name and give expression to them; choosing to let them go and focus on whatever I am doing.
Listening to my inner voice, allowed me to release the fears which had buckled me for decades. I came to realise, through the Ancestors, that I did not have to struggle because the only person in charge of my life is me, and Life allows me to choose what I want, unconditionally! There are no foes and woes.
